Meet Alissa & Cari

We’re sisters who grew up in a small town, without a stop light, without restaurant franchises, and an hour from your standard shopping stores. Also, we lived at 9,000 ft elevation (your cake mix box should say something about adding flour above 5,000 ft…. Maybe double that recommendation!) and our growing season was about 90 days. Our Mom, Aunts, Grandma and Great Grandma all live/lived in similar small towns throughout Colorado, Kansas and Texas and they are all AMAZING cooks! It should come as no surprise that growing up in this environment you had to to be creative with your meal selections and not be afraid to make some modifications, substitutions, figure out how to grow a garden, and grocery shop once a week MAX…. And it better all turn out tasty because there’s no backup fast food and goodness knows you don’t want it to go to waste!

We learned from the generations ahead of us. And then we grew up, started our own families, and adapted recipes we found to suit our pantry/deep freezer needs. We moved away from each other but never quite sharing our latest creations and family favorites via text message. Then it occurred to us, why not share this passion with everyone?!

Alissa Arbuckle

Alissa and her husband live in the Texas Hill Country with their two children, ages 3 and almost 2. Her days are filled with preschool lessons, teaching horse back riding, family adventures near and far, assisting with her local MOPS program, some work in the Air National Guard, and of course preparing meals! Somehow these babies and husband’s tummies always need more food, and goodness knows that toddlers can be picky eaters!

Cari Frink

Cari and her husband live in beautiful Northern Colorado with their 4 children, ages 9, 7, 5 and 3. She stays busy managing SPENGA (their fitness studio), shuttling children to school, sports and church events, doing seasonal photography, and preparing the most delicious and beautiful meals for her family and friends. “I love to cook, but I don’t love doing dishes OR have time to do dishes, so usually my family eats incredible meals on paper plates.”
